Convención is a small city located in the Norte de Santander department of Colombia. It has a population of approximately 30,000 people. Although it is not directly situated on the coast, Convención is still of interest to seafarers, shipowners, and crewing companies due to its proximity to the Magdalena River, which is an important waterway for transporting goods in Colombia. The city does not have any ports, shipyards, or factories producing ship parts.
