Basrah is the second-largest city in Iraq, with a population of over 2 million people. As a major port city, it is of great interest to seafarers, shipowners, and crewing companies. It is located on the Shatt al-Arab waterway, providing access to the Persian Gulf, and is home to the Umm Qasr Port, the largest deep-water port in Iraq. Basrah is also known for its oil industry, with many refineries and oil terminals located in and around the city.
