Ma‘lūlā is a small city in Syria with a population of around 2,000 people. It is located about 56 kilometers northeast of Damascus. It is not known for its seafaring or shipbuilding industry, as it is an inland city situated in a mountainous region. However, it is renowned for being home to one of the last remaining communities where Aramaic, the language of Jesus Christ, is still spoken. Ma‘lūlā is a popular tourist destination for its ancient churches and historical significance.
